Blog Assignment #3

January 25, 2008

Ever since the internet, and in different forms in the past, people have generally been timid about releasing their information to a 3rd party source. In the generation of internet, accessing a websites primary content generally requires membership, which in-turn means that one will be required to sign up for that site. Upon signing up for a website, one will generally have to release info about them, depending on the site, some of this information may be taken as sensitive to release.

I personally am willing to release my full name, zip-code, e-mail, and date of birth to lagitiment website, like myspace, if it is required to sign up and if they do not release my information. When it comes to publicly accessible information, such as my actual myspace page, i will only tell my first name and say i live in San Diego. I never release detailed information about me that can be accessed by random people. If submitting highly sensitive information on the internet, such as credit card numbers, i will always look for the encrypted lock that appears on websites that transmit sensitive information.

DZ Akins is a delicatessen located just off the I-8, near the 70th street trolley station. It features over 130 different sandwiches, which are renowned for being quite large.

Their website features a large horizontal mosaic that is styled in Art Deco, a popular form of art in the 1920s. To the left of the mosaic are large links in white letter that include; about us, menu, catering, directions, reviews, and at the bottom, contact us.

To improve their site, they should change the design of the site pages that proceed after clicking on the links that are displayed on the main page. These pages are centered words that vertically descend, which is not as visually appealing as the first part of the site.

    Cry Wolf

www.crywolf.com/

Cry wolf is a local San Diego apple retailer and authorized product support center. The store is located in Claremont Mesa near the 52 and I-805.

The site has a somewhat sense of good organization but seems just a little two sporadic. The should try to be similar to the apple official website, which is very minimalistic appearing and has a nice clean lines appearance, and drop their color scheme. Another issue of the site is they do not yet have an online store feature, which is a must for any online tech website. Another problem with the site is that it is not up-to-date, still displaying a holiday gift guide. If a website is not up-to-date, it generally not be helpful when trying to get info on the latest products.
